How will you be traveling to Summer Academy?

Student Travel Policy – Summer Academy

We welcome international and out-of-state students to participate in the Summer Academy. To ensure a smooth and safe experience, please review the following policies:

Chaperone Requirement for Minors
- International students under 18 years old must be accompanied by a designated chaperone if traveling as part of a group.
  - The chaperone will be responsible for the students’ supervision and conduct throughout the duration of the academy and travel.
  - Chaperones will be provided a townhouse room for their stay, but need to arrange for their own vehicle if they wish to travel during the week off campus.
Travel and Arrival Information
- The academy will provide airport pick-up and drop-off only from Northwest Arkansas National Airport (XNA).
- Students or groups flying into any other airport, such as Tulsa International Airport (TUL), must arrange their own transportation to and from the academy.
- Official pick-up will occur on the Sunday before the event and Friday afternoon after the event concludes. Detailed arrival times and flight information must be submitted in advance.
Housing and Amenities
- Bedding and towels can be provided if requested ahead of time.
- A welcome dinner will be served on Sunday evening, and lunch will be provided on Friday after the event concludes.
- Students are responsible for all other meals outside of scheduled academy activities.
Visa Documentation
- Upon acceptance, each international student will receive an official Letter of Acceptance from the academy.
  - This letter may be used to support visa applications and entry into the United States.

Summer Academy attendees stay on campus in JBU-provided housing, which will be facilitated and monitored by a Resident Director and campus staff. However, if your circumstances prevent you from staying on campus, please indicate that below.

Code of Conduct Acknowledgement

To attend Summer Academy, the parent/legal guardian of the Summer Academy registrant (for minors) or Summer Academy registrant (18 and over) must read, acknowledge and agree that the student will abide by the JBU Summer Academy Code of Conduct (link will open in a new tab). Failure to abide by this Code of Conduct during the Summer Academy could result in disciplinary action.

Please note: John Brown University Summer Academy reserves the right to cancel a Summer Academy track if circumstances prevent that track from hosting a Summer Academy as planned. JBU Summer Academy will notify all registrants of that track by May 19 if their track is cancelled.

Registrants of cancelled tracks will be given the opportunity to register for another track if event vacancy exists. Registrants of cancelled tracks will be given a full refund, including deposit, should they choose not to register for another track.
